FAA Letter Invalidating the Certification of Lighting Systems with Non-OEM Replacement Parts
On June 27, 2018, the FAA rescinded a letter dated Nov. 22, 2005 that allowed the used of non-OEM parts for certified lighting systems. This effectively invalidates any certified lighting systems that uses non-OEM parts.
This FAA action DOES NOT affect any Unimar lighting system where Unimar has supplied the replacement parts.
Unimar is proud to say it has and continues to use and supply only OEM replacement parts for its lighting systems.
If you or your contractors have replaced any components of your lighting systems with non-OEM parts, Unimar stands ready to supply you with original OEM parts so that you may bring your systems back under certification as soon as possible.
